West Bromwich Albion have today parted company with Head Coach Tony Mowbray.
Assistant Head Coach Mark Venus has also departed the club.
The club would like to place on record its thanks to Tony and Mark for their efforts ? but has made the decision to part company following a series of poor results.
It is a shame that it has ended like this and am surprised that it has been done with just two games to go. TM is a lovely man but have to admit that we have gone backwards since he took over. I wish him all the best for the future and am sorry that it did not work out for both him and us as a club.
We now have the summer to sort things out, both on and off the field.
Round and round and round and round……………..well the majority spoke and off we go again. Who will want to be the next victim.
Players rule. Well done to all those who have what they wished for. Careful what you wish for. We did the same to Big Dave. We do it again.
God help us.
There’s no guarantee that anyone who is appointed as the next manager/HC will bring success, may as well give the job to Jimmy Morrison now, he can’t do any worse. Whoever gets the job, they must be ruthless with the clear out. Actually, some of today’s team should be finished now, give some of the youngsters a go, give them a chance in the final two games.
Well, given the declining level of performances under him and the failure to finish in the top 6, this is hardly a surprise. Probably best for both the club and TM himself-as Tipp and others have said in previous posts, the stress of the situation cannot be good for his health issues.
Tony comes across as a genuinely nice man and I'm sure that he will still be fondly remembered at Albion for his previous stint with us but this time around he has simply not been able to deliver what he promised. I wish him all the best but good will only goes so far and the results tell their own story. He has had 3 plus months with no real signs of even the beginnings of a turn around so the decision had to be made sooner rather than later.
Here's to a clear out over the summer of those players who need to go and just hope we can get a new manager in who can oversee the rebuild, rejuvenate and motivate the squad and get them playing to their potential. Quite who this may be I don't know but I would be exceptionally surprised if the club had not been looking at possible replacements for a while.
That’s it, no one is guaranteed to bring instant success. He had four months, with a squad he inherited, that was on the slide.
I am honestly thinking of throwing our four season tickets for next season back at the club.
I am absolutely disappointed in the shortsightedness of this club. I will not say much more because I am seriously naft off with the short sighted vision of this club.
Being a lovely man does not mean much in a ruthless business world. A new manager needs to come in and bring a new coaching staff to back up his ideas. The dross players and we all know who they are need to be moved on - Swift, Grady, Furlong and Mowatt. Shame Bartley and Wallace have another year but no other club would want them on their salaries. I would sell Fellows for anything over 15 million as he's a great prospect but let's be honest - he's not a premier league player or an Harvey Barnes who oozed incredible talent and looked a premier player even when with us. Recruitment needs to be spot on going forwards and no flops like Cole or has beens like Armstrong!
Shambolic end to the season and the supporters today ( more than a huge majority ) either voted with empty seats by not turning up or vacated the match earlier in disgust.
As for Tony - glad he's gone but sincerely wish him well and admire his courage of coming back from a dreadful illness. I hope the pay off ensures him and his family can have a future reset.
