In - if we get promotion
Out - if we fail to get in the play off places
Shake it all about - if we get to the play off finals and lose.?
These are the key questions. I agree that the poll is nonsense right now - you have to see how it all plays out this season.

The owners are difficult to read or predict. We've seen them sack a manager - Ardley, and keep a manager - Maynard last season. Assuming they want to be rational and fair, what threshold is SM at with his job?

No play-offs, no job. Surely they wouldn't let SM blow a 3rd season. Twice is enough.
But I think the last 4 matches have cost SM a lot of leeway. Now I think a play-off semi final exit will see him gone too.

Even a clear defeat in the final might lose him his job. Only promotion or an heroic fail in the final might be good enough for him to stay now. That'd be my guess.

You are saying our attendances will fall from 10k+ to a few hundred? I would think most of the 10000 will be there, but maybe not all of them.

I am thinking out, because there is too much noise around him. If we do go up then it is despite him, if we don't it's his fault, so why delay the inevitable if he has such a negative on how the players perform.

We won't win the playoffs - our players can't think clearly under pressure and crumble, so you may as well bin off the manager and get someone else in to have a go. Also our last 2 managers have left, so it feels like getting back to normal sacking a manager.

I would imagine most people would at least agree privately (if not publicly) that if Maynard did get us promoted this season, Notts would probably end up needing to make a change by Xmas in order to have a decent chance of staying up.
I can't believe too many fans seriously think Maynard has got what it takes to go to head to head with the likes of Charlton, Reading and Bolton.

Promotion would almost certainly guarantee him another full time job elsewhere, so it would be a win-win if we go up and then somebody else comes in towards the end of this year and keeps us in L1.

If we don't go up this season, it's effectively two seasons Notts have wasted on him. To risk wasting a third season would be criminal. Seeing that they did sack Ardley, I'd be really shocked if the owners stuck with him in L2, especially with the new recruitment guy coming in who must already have his own ideas as to who might fill the role.
