I?m not a Maynard fan in any way, but for me THE PLAYERS ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Jatta has been woeful in the last few months - terrible touch and doesn?t win any 50-50s. Jones is not himself and you wonder if he ever will be again. Palmer has not got that defense cutting pass. Grant, Jarvis, Whittaker, Hinchy, Gordon - all ?just guys?. We are usually toothless without McGoldrick - our reliance on him shows up so much.

The manager is a problem but I think even a good manager couldn?t get anything out of this lot, the way they?ve shown up recently.

Lots of those players were great until BT showed up. More than capable of getting us up this season.

If by BT, you mean Maynard, then Jarvis, Whitaker, Hinchy, Gordon and Jatta all came in after SM.

Another big game at Meadow Lane, another big game where we fail to turn up. As soon as their first went in we were dreadful. Yet again they just wanted it more, at times it looked like they had an extra player on the pitch. We have been really good away, but our style of play at home just doesn't work but we have persisted with it all season. Even if we somehow manage to win the playoffs, I really hope Maynard isn't head coach when we kick off next season.

I am sick and tired of leaving the ground to the sound of ecstatic away fans.

All of the top 4 gates saw us lose. 7 of these 10 were lost overall.

Those players on the actual pitch. Which you probably realise anyway unless you can name a player that hasnt got immeasurably worse under BT. Didzy doesnt count.

I'm with you, the swash buckling home games of Luke seem far away

Ah fair, I thought you were just referring to those listed in the previous post.

Of the players that pre-date Maynard, and that have featured regularly, Id say:

Macari has always been Macari. Solid with the odd mistake in possession in him. Not much change.

Palmer, in my opinion, has got some unfair stick this season and the NL season is being looked back on with some rose-tinted shade with regards his overall output.

Jones has not hit the heights he did pre-Maynard and has had obvious injury issues this season. A definite drop off.

McGoldrick has clearly a better season than last.

Sam Austin is similar to Macari; you know what youre going to get. Was hitting a bit of form before his injury.

Robertson pre-dates Maynard by about an hour of the 5-5 at Grimsby.

Reminds me a bit of the Keith Curle days, where he simply wouldn't or couldn't adapt successful away tactics to work at home, and we know what happened to him. Jatta was so bereft of support from midfield. I think Grant and Whitaker were notionally supposed to work off him as attacking midfielders, but they were both abysmal.

Unfortunately, our obsession with playing slow-paced possession football makes us look like a team playing a pre-season friendly every week. People complain about a lack of atmosphere and fans expressing frustration, but what are we supposed to cheer when we constantly pass backwards and sideways and there's never so much as a crunching tackle to get the juices flowing. It's just passionless, insipid stuff and frankly not worth paying money to watch.
