Wish we were horrible to play against. We?re nice, passive and lightweight.
Yeah, I don't agree with slating the owners. I think they've still got masses of credit left in the bank after what they've done for us, but your comments on the team and current performances echo my views. I don't want Notts County's identity to be "passive" or "nice". It makes my skin crawl.

Under Luke Williams we played very attacking, fast-paced, often one touch possession football and we were a joy to watch a lot of the time. That's not the case under Maynard, and given that the owners have said they look at performances as well as results I'm sure they won't be satisfied either, but it's all about how they/we learn from this disappointment. The foundations of the club remain far sounder than they've been for many years, but the brickwork and roof need a bit of redesigning.

I agree but surely promotion from the NL was a step forwards. My first season watching Notts we finished 7th from bottom (I think) in the 4th. Then we recruited Jimmy.

I'm not giving the bros a free pass because the appointment of Maynard* was a huge mistake and the transfer windows seemed a bit vanilla but have turned out to be worse after flattering to deceive. The loss of Crowley was a concern and lack of a replacement a disaster whoever was to blame (and I include the fans' childish p!$$ taking of his religious views in that).

But I will say that to progress you need to be alive, and we are. Just a bit effing miserable at the moment.

[* - through most of my career, not in football, I've understood coaching to mean putting people in a position where they can use their skill set to make the best decisions and action them. Not many football managers, with their default to control freakery, actually do this but I believe Luke did and Maynard has done nothing of the sort which makes him a big time failure in my book.]

Maynard was a Montague special. The whole statement last season was Montague protecting him, I think the owners trusted Montague to do the football side of things.

Maynard himself said after Port Vale we were behind target set by the owners, I don't think he will last long.

Wonder is Luke Williams will be back, George Lawtry was on Twitter supporting Notts very recently who was a coach Williams works with

That was definitely a Luke Williams strength. Tbh, I'd have him back in a heartbeat despite also believing one should 'never go back'.

David Jackson on Radio Nottm, after Stall was questioning whether or not SM has had the necessary tools..... "Is he getting the best out of the players he's got?"
Stall "That's the 64 million dollar question".

What a completely miserable way to bow out of the season. Stuffy, predictable football that rarely even produces a decent shot on goal. How can you win games like that?

I've long been of the opinion that Maynard needs relieving of his duties. At the same time, I'm not even convinced it's going to happen now.

I've not been to games as often this season due to illness. When I was finally in a position to return, there was little to attract. Games have become totally boring with the dull, samey and pointless football being played. We've now ended the season with barely a whimper.

What would your alternative be? Forest or Mansfield?

I'm in the space where I'm happy with the direction of the owners and the setup of the club.

However, I'm not happy with the direction under Stuart Maynard.

I understand that everything else is insanely nuanced (jan signings, injuries, bans, club staff leaving), which led to where we are.

I look forward to the club comms next week for more clarity.

I'd not hesitate to have him back. I also think that he'd be less likely to jump ship this time as well. His interview about Swansea think made him realise Notts is a special club with the owners
