Someone posted SM?s home record a few weeks back but am struggling to find it now. It was absolutely rancid. The performances since the turn of the year at ML have been moribund.

He?s a reasonable guy but is (and never has been) up to the job. I hope the brothers don?t see the season ticket sales as a justification to keep him. I have renewed because I support the club, not because I am happy with what I have witnessed at ML this season.

I have it on excellent authority that the players are *scared* of playing at Meadow Lane and that the squad looks to Didzy for leadership as opposed to our so called manager. This will simply not change under Maynard - he is a pleasant, Tim Henman-type, but he is not a winner and never will be.

A change is desperately needed or I fear a relegation scrap next year.

We have neither been promoted or played interesting football with an appalling home record to boot. There is no stat that redeems him this year, he's lost the fans if he ever had them in the first place. It was always going to be difficult replacing Luke Williams, but to turn an exciting and attacking team into whatever it is we are now should be a criminal offense
I've got no problem with the owners' engagement with the fans. They communicate regularly enough, but they don't allow their decisions be dictated by keyboard warriors on message boards seeking to force them in a particular direction. I say that recognising that I'm a keyboard warrior myself!

As I said in another post yesterday, the owners have plenty of credit in the bank as far as I'm concerned after all they've one for the club since they took over, and this season's perceived failure has still seen us finish in our highest position in the Football League since the Kevin Nolan days, so everything has to be seen in perspective.

I agree with you that I've seen little from Stuart Maynard to convince me that he can turn us back into the fast-paced, attractive, attacking team we saw under Luke Williams, and being honest if it was announced over the summer that Luke was coming back then I would personally look forward to next season a hell of a lot more, having now purchased my season ticket.

That said, I respect the right of the owners to do what they think is right on the coaching and signings front, because overall they have moved the club forward long way from the mess they inherited. I don't consider myself to be a happy clapper or a gloomster, but I can see that the careful, thoughtful, consistent approach of the current regime has produced more stability and steady progress over the past few years than any other owner since the Pavis days.

If Luke Williams did do an interview saying he wants to get back in the game even as an assistant, what are the thoughts on a ‘management team’ of SM and LW?

    This might work.

LW can take over the day to day management of the squad and SM could have a permanent period away from ML.

I think the home record could Trump the top six finish and be his downfall. The owners although loyal, aren't daft!

I've a horrible feeling he'll still be here at the start of next season.

He shouldn't be as even when the injuries eased up it looked no different. The squad is far from perfect but is also comfortably better than his style has made it look & I'd be amazed if the senior pros have confidence in him.

Sadly I don't think this season was bad enough for the bros to pull the trigger yet, which would mean rebuilding to fill the gaps in HIS team before inevitably having to get rid in October, meaning we waste another opportunity.

    Hope I'm wrong.

Unfortunately not, and I believe he will stay as coach, at least till Christmas.
