Street played well against us, but I think Jatta scored about as many goals this season as Street has in the last 5 seasons.
But was the difference to Donny from January on. We did nothing!

tbf, there's not much in Street's stats to suggest he'd be so successful - to the untrained eye, mine. An example of what Stal said on MC about being the right fit (right team/right coach) at the right time. Highlights really how the far the Bros have to go in finding the right fit at the right time in our JanTranny windows.

All I have to say is Rob Sreet, Doncaster!!
Rob Street proved in retrospect to be the tip of the mountain of transfers made by League Two clubs in the January window. I don?t know the numbers but how many arrivals were there at this level in that transfer window? 150? 200?

Rob Street worked out very very well for Doncaster and got them promoted but he was a standout. They picked the right raffle ticket so many clubs didn?t including Notts

I'd have expected the departure and thus availability, of such a high profile player as McG, would have found it's way on to the sports pages by now if true?

A total rebuild in front of the defence is required IMO and the loss of McG would be a critical blow. JJ has been a shadow of himself since his injuries and without him, we have no guile, no spark, all very pedestrian and I'm not the only one with concerns for next season it seems. As I continually say, we're one bad season away from being back in the National League and what we have at our disposal right now, despite 'Stall's' optimism, is mid-table at best IMHO.

If we had signed Street in January, I could have see the fans ranting. There was nothing in his figures saying he was the ticket to promotion. We went Whittaker instead. If fans had to make a choice in January between Street and Whittaker, many would have chosen Whittaker, many more neither. Even our system will fail sometimes. As for Jones and our wing backs, they have had to do far more defensive work this season than attacking. It needs to change next year for us to be more dangerous in the final third. Among many other things.

We did pretty well without Didzy a couple of years ago! The man is nearly 38 and can't shake his injury problems which means he will probably only be available for half the season anyway. I'm not sure he ever really fit the blueprint and we only signed him because he was so proactive in wanting to come back. If he is on big money, then I trust the bros to reinvest it in someone younger. Thanks for everything Didzy, but we move on.

Obviously every club in League Two are one bad (if we are being honest it?s more accurately awful or disastrous) season from being in the National League, that?s the nature of the beast.

Under these owners I don?t believe we will be anywhere close to a return to that level. The vast majority of the clubs that are relegated to the National League either have big financial issues or are very badly run off field behind the scenes, or both. We have absolutely no evidence regarding either under these owners.

I have to agree with this from laddo.. all the scare mongering predictions about us getting relegated if Maynard had been retained was utter b-o- ll-ox..

Maybe how Rob Street did and how our January signings did is a reflection of their respective coaches rather than their intrinsic ability.

Certainly Will Jarvis is no more an effective wing back then I am an award winning chef.
