First Signing - sort of - Cordero

Spanish winger Antonio Cordero says it is "truly an honour" to be joining Newcastle this summer.

The Magpies have confirmed they will sign 18-year-old Cordero on 1 July following the expiry of his contract with Malaga, subject to completion of the Premier League's registration process.

The Spain Under-19 international is expected to head out on loan next season after completing the move.

"It's truly an honour to be here, truly a pleasure," Cordero said on the move.

"I am a person who likes to aspire high. Why not come to one of the best places in the world to do it.

"It's a big step, and that's one of the reasons I'm here. I'm happy to do it and have a great desire to get going already."

Cordero ? known as Antonito ? has made 60 senior appearances in all competitions for Malaga, scoring seven goals and registering nine assists.

Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell added: "Antonio is an exciting talent. We're delighted to bring him to Newcastle United amidst interest in Spain and across Europe.

"He has lots of potential, and the next phase of his development will be for the club to select a loan move that will challenge him and build on his experiences."

Saw in another report that it looks like he'll be going to Ajax on loan for next season, that could be a great loan deal.

We also beat off Barca and Real for his signature which has to be a sign of how we're seen by promising young players.

Looks like a class young talent and a big game player for one so young.

He secured promotion back to Segunda Liga for Malaga with a game in the dying minutes of the last game of the season.

A talent on the left, technical and tricky. Not bless with blistering pace but a very sharp footballing mind. Got the Bernardo Silva vibe about him.

Great addition to the quality young blood we're currently attracting.

I sort of agree but equally, if he got regular game time at Ajax I do think that would be worth it.

Along with Antonio Cordero, since the take over the club have signed top top quality youth talent.

    Vakhtang Salia
    Baran Yildiz
    Kyle Fitzgerald
    MiodragPivaš
    Leo Shahar
    Trevan Sanusi
    AlfieHarrison
    Cathal Heffernan
    GarangKuol
    Jay Turner-Cooke

Including Cordero 11 young players that genuinely have a pathway to the first team.

That's a very exciting list of young talent.

We're beating a lot of other top clubs to a lot of these lads. Should they not quite make it, sadly there is a potential for them to generate money for the club in terms of future transfers.

We're also closing in on the signing of Moroccan wonder kid - Abdelhamid A?t Boudlal

He'll go straight into the first team squad though rather than development as he's a top tier prospsect being scouted by Liverpool and the big clubs from Italy, Spain & Germany.

Will be yet another Coup to scoop this kid up

    Great news that Rag.

We're also looking at this 16 year old Scottish kid from Rangers - who is again highly rated.

Here is an across-the-board look at some of those who have arrived at SJP over the same timescale: Baran Yildiz (Genelerbirligi), Leo Shahar (Wolves), Trevan Sanusi (Birmingham), Vakhtang Salia (Dinamo Tbilisi), Charlie McArthur (Kilmarnock), Kyle Fitzgerald (Galway), Aaron Apia (Everton), Rory Finneran (Blackburn), Ezra Tika Lembi (West Ham), Taylor Ross (Bolton), CJ Afumuzor (Portsmouth), Lesecond Yeutembio (Charlton), Leon Mukumbira (Peterborough).

They cover all the age groups and cost transfer fees in lots of cases _ Yildiz for example was bought at a price which will rise to ?2.5m. Salia and Sanusi were also sold in negotiated deals with their clubs.

All the activity has been topped up in the last week by 18-year-old winger Antonio Cordero arriving from Malaga with a considerable reputation but who will be loaned out next season rather than go into United's PL squad.
