Thread: Hearts (H) 31/01/26

Sorry but I disagree, I don't think either of the red cards should have been shown. The penalty, yes that one seems clear to me. I mean the referee was looking right at Fatah when he made his challenge which was milliseconds late. It's a booking all day long, red card? No chance. And the Hearts player feigning that Camara has laid one on him was just embarrassing.

To all those blaming VAR for that result on Saturday, I admire your optimism and positivity. But honestly, if you think that was anything besides yet another pysh poor performance then you are kidding yourself, and that will be proved when we get walloped at Easter Road on Wednesday. Our team is rotten - not one decent player in there. A few of them were ok a few months back, but they have inexplicably turned shyte.

Our pitch is highly reminiscent of our team at the moment - a phukin' mess.

Answer me this - how many points do you see us picking up between now and the end of the season? I'm thinking very few, unless there is a dramatic change at the club. And by that I mean completely abandoning the 3-4-3 formation that clearly isn't working, playing players in their best positions, or a change of manager (not what I want at the moment). We simply don't have the right mentality - there are no winners on our team. We're now sitting here hoping that the likes of Livi and Kilmarnock keep losing so that we can avoid the relegation play off, or worse.

Our previous game at Easter Road was our best attacking display of the season imo. If Goodwin would just play four at the back from the off and have a phucking go, I'm sure United fans would say he is a better manager for it. Sticking with this 343 him and his "coaching team" deserve all the stick coming their way.

I don’t think we are all blaming VAR, although it does have an effect on the game! Would we have won or drawn with 11 v 11, we’ll never know, but given form, formation etc. probably not.

The inconsistencies in officiating add to the frustration especially if you are playing what is seemingly and sometimes proven 2 tier refereeing; we are not the only ones to be on the end of some baffling decisions though.

We also seem not to play the neat little triangles, other teams play, thereby not finding an outlet ball; to often the outlet is 3 opposition players away. Inverted wingers, wing backs etc. a load of old pi*h now and found out.

Even more concerning for me, is the inability to bring through a more consistent stream of our own academy players. Either being sold off to EPL, or loaned out to lower level clubs, where development is not guaranteed. We now get loans from abroad, more due to cost and potential sell on, all clubs are doing it now. That destroys the hopes and dreams of the we U11 Sunday league boys! In days gone by our and many teams life’s blood.

Therefore whether it’s coaching, officiating or development something is fundamentally wrong and we are suffering! In the words of Billy Strings ‘

‘this old boat is taking water’
Won’t be long before it goes down
Had enough to push us over
Time to turn this boat around

The reality is the game was ruined and we will never know how the game would have turned out, it was decided by those decisions

United played well, lost a poor goal but were well in the game, we've gone behind in the previous two Hearts games early and in both been level or ahead by half time

VAR should not have got involved in the Fatah incident at it wasn't a clear and obvious error by the ref to give him a yellow

There was no foul on Braga for the fk that led to the pen

United players done well in the circumstances

The chance to get back in the game was taken from us by nonsense of VAR

See the Fatah challenge it reminds me of the Tony Watt one from a number of years ago. Yet here we are a number of years down the line and they are looking at the frozen picture which makes it look worse than it was imo.

One thing I would like for next season is foreign officials for the whole season. The Scottish ones can have a rest and do lower league. Any argument from Scottish officials for this, I'd say what are you afraid of?..............

Too many times the team have fallen behind and have to get back in the game.

VAR was not responsible for this which is the main problem in most games.

Starting fast and taking the game to opposition may result in them having to chase and take chances.

I agree re VAR not being responsible as imo they got the 2 sending offs correct and the penalty correct (only just)

The 1st sending off is just a typical attacking players tackle. It was clumsy but unintentional.

The 2nd sending off was ridiculous by Camara - what an idiot but on both sending offs the Hearts players reactions are embarrassing but also typical of the modern game.

On starting fast. We did. We started well then the goal and the sending then the subsequent penalty killed the game but i do get what you mean as we've been losing the 1st goal far too often in other games this season and having to play catch up.

Apparently the club have appealed both red card decisions. Oh, the jeopardy - will the appeals be upheld or will they not…

    Both will be upheld IMO.

Camara ran the full length of the pitch and put his head forward aggressively...even if it didn't touch the boy. Red

Fatah was unlucky but I think they will get him for the movement of the Hearts lads foot when he hit him. Red (although I don't understand why VAR got involved as I think it could also be a yellow if the foot movement wasn't spotted...so not a clear and obvious error, especially when you have to look at hunners of angles and freeze frames)

Seems like a pointless exercise but it does highlight the inconsistencies of our Refs and VAR teams. It will be interesting to see what Collum has to say about it.

Regardless of the cards...we were never winning that game.
