Michael Carberry, the former England opener, has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour, his county Hampshire announced on Thursday.
Carberry, 35, missed Hampshire’s championship match last week against Warwickshire after feeling unwell.
He saw a specialist on Tuesday and his county confirmed he has been told he has cancer. Carberry will undergo further tests to determine his treatment.
Hampshire said in a statement: "Following recent reports about his health and now that he has spoken fully to his family, friends and team-mates, Hampshire Cricket can confirm that after a brief period of feeling unwell, a specialist has determined that Michael Carberry has a tumour that is cancerous.”

Many great Cricketers including Warnie, KP, Michael Vaughan, Stuart Broad and Marcus Trescothick have wished him well. I do too.
