Alloa Athletic vs Queens Park 02/01/2018

Rough Scouting Report by an Alloa Arab

Alloa, managed by caber-tosser in chief Jim Goodwin, lined up as a 4-4-2 against 9th placed Queens Park. I hoped to summarise players, but League 1 still uses 1-11 numbers and the programme didn't have player numbers. I also missed the team lines pre-match.

The Wasps started brightly and caught Queens cold with a precise long ball to their left winger. He crossed low into the box and allowed Alloa to take the lead.

Alloa then reverted to an aimless long-ball strategy, which Queens gradually adjusted to and then thrived on. Alloa, lacking pace throughout their side and any guile, struggled to cope with the nimble passing of the Spiders. It was no surprise when Queens equalised on 40 mins.

Alloa didn't improve after the break. Despite three changes over the 45-65 minute period, they didn't improve. Queens Park took the lead from the spot after about an hour.

The last fif**** minutes saw Alloa getting more desperate and top-loading the team. They got a barely-merited equaliser with four minutes to go.

In summary: I saw nothing at all to fear from Alloa. They are a workmanlike side with no skill, pace or inspiration in the team. Although NOTHING should be taken for granted, United prepared should put Alloa out on the 20th.
