Alan Gilzean, what a player. Very much under rated but a ***** part of Spurs attacking forward line up front with Jimmy Greaves. He did the simple things well, whether it being in the right place at the right time, a deft touch to set up a goal scoring opportunity or finishing off a move in the traditional Tottenham way. I was lucky enough to see him play both for Spurs and Scotland. By today’s standards one of those players that most clubs couldn’t afford. I think he just disappeared when his career came to an end and he seemed to prefer being on his own in his latter years. It’s a real shame at 79 years of age. As someone once said , “The game is about glory, doing it in style. “. He certainly fitted into that category no doubt.
There must be other Clarets out there with fond memories of this brilliant footballer.
