The fact remains, though, if you bring in good-quality players in positions where you already have several good-quality players, people are going to miss out, and the younger players with potential get pushed even further down the pecking-order.
You must admit it is quite freakish to lose so many players in one week from the same area of the field. You can't bring in really good players for that eventuality! When you get a run without injuries, you have redundant very talented players who get frustrated by lack of opportunities. My guess is that Rodwell fell into that category at Sunderland.
In summary, Champs, I am saying it is unrealistic in the Championship to have a squad of 30 players who are all equally talented. We have seen the problems that occur even in the PL when this situation arises. Top-notch players are not going to to want to be told, "You are just there as cover."
