He's been terrible all season. I painfully watched the whole 90 minutes (or 98 or whatever it was, felt like years) this morning, and it was so bad. I made a point of watching Rooney, he made a few pretty touches, but overall was poor.

What really irks me though, is his lack of leadership.

I didn't see him once go and put an arm around one of the younger lads, didn't see him directing any players around him. His body language is pathetic, a bit like a dad playing with the school team, has a couple of pretty touches to massage his ego, but otherwise doesn't get involved. Just plays a simple (usually misplaced) pass sideways or backwards, or some pathetic attempt at lobbing one over the top for the cameras. There is no inspiration, he's the same age as me and I find it pathetic that he just plods around as if he's 60 years old, all that skill yet zero effort.

Then you have the moment that the ref calls him over to have a word with Lawrence who was getting close to a red card. Rooney shoots him a couple of words from distance, then runs away to hide behind a defender. It would be bad enough if a captain did that, but when he is the on-field coach too, it is just criminal.

He thinks he's bigger than the club, he thinks he can run a midfield like Gerrard, he thinks he will one day manage like Fergie. He is none of those things.

I honestly don't think I've disliked a player so much since Eddie Lewis, but at least Lewis had the excuse of a lack of talent. Rooney's just a pathetic excuse of a professional, and I don't want him anywhere near our club. If we get a strong manager who can kick him into shape then he might be useful, otherwise he is going to take us down.

**watch him go and score a hattrick now**
