Last night's appalling scenes were a case in point. The vigil was illegal on two counts, firstly it was deemed by the government to be an illegal gathering and secondly, it broke Covid regulations. Of course that doesn't apply to them as they can do what they want! The ban may have been wrong, I'm not sure, but it was the law and should have been adhered to. What really annoyed me was that it wasn't a silent vigil but a raucous protest led in all probability by the usual agitators. I may be arguing against myself here but had it been a silent, socially distanced and well ordered event, as in many other areas, the police could well have 'turned a blind eye'. Wrong I know, but would have been understandable.

The police in general, and London especially, have had an horrendous job to do in the last twelve months and don't deserve the way that far too many of the public treat them.
That’s bang on how it is. “Center of the universe” that’s how people think now that their case is more important than anyone else’s. Just saw an Instagram post which might as well be saying that all men are like the guy who murdered that woman. 100% one said. Telling men how to behave when walking down the street at night. “Keep your distance” don’t walk too fast. I stopped myself from commenting because I knew how it would pan out. Just like the racist issue I would have been branded as someone who agreed with what the murderer did. You are dealing with brains that operate without any logical cohesion.
