Archer definitely isn’t the answer, looks lazy to me, when he was selected, it was because he was able to bowl at over 90mph but most of the time his speed was in the low 80’s. I know Mark Wood isn’t always effective but I think he should have been in the team for this Test. I’ve nothing against Overton but he is too similar to the other three seamers, Wood would have been able to deliver that extra pace. I still believe, though, that it was the decision not to bat first that was the biggest error; most tests are won by the side batting first and even if the first morning is difficult to bat through, you generally find yourself batting in the best conditions of the match. If you put the opposition in, then you need a first innings lead of at least 200 or 250. Oh yes, dropping four catches didn’t help either.
