The late postponement of the match against Spurs has not done Burnley any favours. A win would have lifted the Clarets out of the bottom three and both Tarkowski and Westwood would have served their one match bans. Now they will be suspended for our visit to Molineux. The weather forecast for Wednesday evening in Wolverhampton is fair so the game is set to go ahead.

Wolves began the 2021/22 PL season with three straight defeats but a successful run since then under new head coach Bruno Lage has seen them climb to sixth place in the table. After playing Burnley they have a tough run of fixtures with home games against Liverpool and Chelsea bookending away trips to Manchester City and Brighton. Wolves were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Norwich in their weekend game at Carrow Road and will therefore be keen to make up lost ground by targeting three points from Wednesday’s game. Belgian international Leander Dendoncker is predicted to come in for the suspended Ruben Neves. Daniel Podence is likely to be unavailable so speedy winger Adama Traore could make the starting eleven. Following the departure of Diogo Jota to Liverpool South Korean forward Hwang has been brought in on loan from RB Leipzig to partner Raúl Jiménez in attack.

For Burnley Collins and Cork will replace the suspended Tarkowski and Westwood. Despite the thawing weather, defender Connor Roberts still appears to be frozen out of Sean Dyche’s immediate plans though the Clarets manager insists the Wales international will not be sent out on loan in January. Burnley have scored 9 goals and picked up 6 points in their last four PL fixtures. They have yet to win a league game however on their travels this season and will be hard put to match their performance on their last visit to Molineux. On a memorable afternoon back in April Burnley romped to a 4-0 away win as the Clarets all but guaranteed another season of top flight football. Chris Wood helped himself to a first half hat-trick before providing the assist as Ashley Westwood rifled home a late fourth.
