Nothing wrong with playing possession football at international level, because the last thing you want to be doing in tournament football where you play every three or four days is spend most of each game chasing the ball. However, it's possible to retain the ball and play a passing game with far more panache that Southgate's teams do, especially when you've got so many supposedly good players at your disposal. I think Southgate's record as England manager flatters him tbh.
