You took the words right out of my mouth. Basing fears and creating hysteria around one case, of one very f***ed up individual, is quite shortsighted.
Being non-resident in Scotland I haven't followed the law too closely so am not going to comment on the safeguarding side, although i do agree safeguarding is crucial (and arguably severly lacking around the world in non LGBTQ+ incidents too). Don't be a playground bully and point and laugh at anyone different. Just accept differences as what makes life diverse and interesting. My only argument here echoes what 57 stated above. Let people be happy, and be themselves, as long as they are doing no harm to others. Don't tar everyone with the brush of a tiny minority or you end up in the territory of 'all Muslims are terrorists, all Americans are gun toting crazies, all Hungarians are racist, people on benefits are scroungers and lazy.......all LGBTQ+ are perverts'. That's not a good place to be.
Then mixing Mondo and 57s sentiments, let them be, and if there is a queue of rapists queuing up for gender reassignment then repeal the law before the damage is done. But I would say that scenario is extremely unlikely.
Oh, and it's "how many cases..." 😉
