The Championship Millers made made an approach well over a month ago following the release of the second tier's record scorer by South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United.

The 37-year-old has stalled on accepting what was on the table and Rotherham have now dropped the figure they are prepared to pay.

They have just signed Andre Green and are also targeting another frontman.

"I have to be honest, that offer has had to change because of what we've spent elsewhere," Taylor told the Advertiser. "What was there six weeks ago, we can't match that anymore. What we have left to spend is a lot less than we had previously.”
It was reported that the offer was withdrawn in it's entirety! In any case the 'Billy Sharp saga' is a fool's errand. Anyone wanting to seriously carry on playing would have decided by now.The last thing you need at 37 is to miss out on an entire pre-season. I'm open to ridicule but I'll stick my neck out...........he's had some time off,he's enjoyed it,Sheff Utd are in the past.........he'll retire!
