I have no reason to disbelieve what you say about waste. Whether HMG are the best equipped to grasp that particular nettle is another matter.
It’s interesting how different organisations can vary so much despite having much the same resources meaning, I suppose, that it must all come down to management efficiency and competence.
There’s much not to like about Amazon for instance, but in terms of efficiency I can’t help thinking that many, from airlines to train companies and even Governments, could learn a lot from them. Whether I’d want to work for them is, again, another matter.
