As part of Heritage Week we visited lots of castles, houses, museums and gardens all free and some of them open only for this. Really enjoyed it.

Went to some towns in the county I haven't visited for a few years. What struck me was how vibrant and prosperous the small market towns appeared to be. Places we ate in were busy.Stopped overnight in Lewes, had a nice meal and noticed how many new bars and restaurants and of course coffee shops there were.

This somewhat contrasted with headlines all over this week's news 'Record number of pubs close this year'

So I went looking for evidence to support what I had seen. It took an a lot of finding as what I mostly got back was pub opening hours but I eventually found

'there are more pubs open now than pre-Covid'

'new pub openings outweigh pub closures'

'in 2022 there was a record number of new pub openings'

Why is it the media (and a few posters on here) love nothing more than a bit of doom and gloom but give them a good news story!

Cheers.

See the Albion are losing now that is an ongoing bad news story
