Clarets Mad - Clarets v Crystal Palace, English Premier League Match Preview.
Venue: Turf Moor, Harry Potts Way, Burnley BB10 4BX.
Kick-off – 15.00 – Saturday 4th November 2023.

Following two dismal away performances at Bournemouth and Everton respectively, Burnley will next entertain Roy Hodgson’s Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Turf Moor.

Early in the season Vincent Kompany talked about the Clarets home ground becoming a “fortress”; it is so easily breached the wily old veteran Hodgson must have put three points in his travel bag already. Perhaps the placing of Jack Cork in the role of defensive midfielder might bolster a very weak defence?

To make matters worse for Kompany, it is likely that Hodgson will have last season’s Palace superstars Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze fit and available for selection. Kompany can only hope Lyle Foster is available following an illness which has kept him out of the last two Burnley games.

One’s to watch: Burnley are so short of firepower it is hard to see where the next goal will come from, maybe the potential return of Foster might just light the Clarets’ striking fuse.

The Eagles’ Jordan Ayew always poses a serious goal threat and the return of Olise and Eze can only boost the Palace goal threat.

Verdict: The way Burnley are shaping right now I cannot see past a Palace away win, I’m going for a 3-0 victory for the visitors.

Footnote: The last time Palace visited Turf Moor the Clarets defence made Belgian striker Christian Benteke look like a superstar. Only a flying volley from Maxwell Cornet saved Burnley blushes, the game ended in a pretty breathless 3-3 draw. How I would love more of the same. (TEC).
