I think he was almost the UK entry into Eurovision way back.
Unless my aging memory is playing tricks, he lost out to the eventual winner "Save all your kisses for me" by The Brotherhood of Man.

I've had a look into it, and he finished third in the 1978 selection, behind the winner "Bad Old Days" by Co-Co, which flopped in the contest. Christian's song was "Shine It On", written by Bill Martin & Phil Coulter. They also wrote "Puppet on a String", Sandie Shaw's winning entry in 1967.
