You don’t need to have been a top player to be a top player, Klopp and many others have proved that.

They’ve also proved they can handle the media, manage expectations and disappointments and that they can be the figurehead of an organisation…..Carsley has done none of the above.

If he’s a crash hot as is being suggested, why have no clubs hunted him down?

I’m not saying he’s not got a chance of being a good manager 923 but I feel you need to earn this job by having done top jobs and dealt with huge stress.

Managing England youth and under 21 is not that.
Yes I do think there's a massive difference between managing kids but I also think there is a massive difference managing a club side and an international team. We've tried the successful club manager so many times and it's failed everytime. So perhaps it's not so v ital. Perhaps it's time for a change.

Have a look at the bloke who has just managed Spain to the Euros title. Having previously managed Bilbao reserves and Alaves for just 11 games he then managed Spain U16's thro to U23's. Spanish fans didn't want him. Not a big enough name. Done OK!

Is 'he has Southgate's DNA running through him' still your primary concern or has his record persuaded you different?

I'll come back to, of all the Englishmen named he is the only one that has on his CV 'WINNER'
