Good read Derek. I agree with your assessment of where we are as a club and the type of manager we need to be attracting.
I reckon that the majority of fans who I know, (noting that most have been around since well before NYS), want to see a Rotherham side that puts in 100%. If that happens, the results are secondary as most understand the constraints that we operate under.
I think Warne struck just the right balance in taking reasonably talented, but not vastly expensive players, and instilled in them a pride in the shirt and a desire to match the opposition through superior fitness and effort. The excitement created by taking on and sometimes matching the big boys, along with dominating when we came across similar sized clubs (League One), was sufficient to keep the fans engaged and optimistic.
The new fans who've come along since NYS may well have different and higher expectations - but unless the club gets major investment, they're going to be disappointed.
Give me the Warney rollercoaster every time and I'll be satisfied.
