So we move on to left back, a 'problem' position for Derby for a number of seasons

My two pen'orth for what its worth:

Expect: Murkin
Want: Murkin
in support: Elder, Forsyth

Not very 'progressive' but bear with me

Murkin appears to have been purchased as first choice left back. I guess he'd be racked off if we went out and bought a new target who pushed him onto the bench

So, if we got rid of Elder, who we don't need to pay for and I'd guess comes fairly cheap wages wise, we'd need to find someone better (and yes fitter) than Elder but not as good as Murkin. Tricky. So why not keep Elder?

Forsyth I'd keep for one last year as utility defensive cover, and left back is one such position. I don't subscribe to the theory that his legs have gone (any more than ever) or that his general form has dipped (below what we've known for years). So why not keep Forsyth on the same 'cost to replace' basis as Elder?

Anyone?
