They have got a monument up at Sixfields where The Cobblers play for Walter Tull who enlisted with the Army during WW1 and survived only to die from 'Trench Fever' I think...he was a negro that nearly signed for Rangers...interesting stuff.

Walter Tull died in battle in 1918 and was the first black officer in the British Army as well as one of the first black professional footballers. Not bad for an orphan from East London.

Enjoyed the programme last night - especially the interview with the 105 year old woman from Hartlepool who remembered the German naval bombardment of the town in 1914! Sadly, she has died since. - view external link

She remembers someone saying there was a man in the next street with his head blown off. Said it frightened her a bit. 150 people were killed.

Hearts representatives recently attended a match at L Orient shared wreaths and the likes all had to do about WW1

When a lot of players sacrificed during the great War cfc were winning the leagues

Ive read the book and visited the Cairn at Contalmaison which Hearts supporters paid for.

The Hearts squad once did a night training march for miles in the Pentlands before travelling through to Glasgow to play cellick in a league decider. Amazing stuff.
