It's apparent to me now after due consideration that Carroll thought he could continue the roughing up battle by craftily disguising a swipe as a recovery from a fall manouvre thus why it wasnt a hooking motion, and maybe thought he was out of the referee's line of vision.

But he was not artful enough as his swing went beyond the natural arc which was seen by the Linesman

When seeing the incident in real time, my first impression was that Carroll had backed into Flores causing him to climb all over him. Any footage of the lead up?

Webb has confirmed he's looked at the replay and said he'd have made the same decision.

Don't get injured in training Carlton.

That's exactly how I saw it.

He was silly really because he had made the bloke look like an average defender all game long, he really should have just laughed at him like Sam did.

    decent read..

    compliments KUMB..

I’m not sure who is worse - they deserve each other.

Both Chico Flores and Howard Webb have form with West Ham, and without West Ham, of substandard behaviour and judgement respectively. Enough is enough. It is time that these inept losers be held accountable.

Let’s start with Webb. You cannot give a red card unless you are absolutely certain of what the offence was and if indeed it was actually even committed. Not dissimilar to innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. It cannot be done on the basis of hearsay, pressure from opposition players or fans, or merely the say-so of another official.

A red card should be reserved for the most grievous offences, not 50/50 situations. The impact of red cards goes well beyond the match in which it occurs. It could potentially have contributed to our relegation if we lost the match - and still could, if the card is not rescinded.

And a referee with World Cup pedigree should, if anything, be held to a

Graham Poll has urged the FA to over turn the red card and bump it down to Three yellow cards instead.

Some good points made in Dags post from Kumb. The sueing part an exception.

Start that up and an already slowly disintegrating sport will totally collapse. Well have everybody spending their time appealing in court unjust decisions made by the inept F.A.

Now is an opportunity for them to at least show that the good of the game is what they have in mind and not the reputation of an official whose only loss would be free viewing of the world cup close up.

Let them show us just how impartial and fair they are. Wont happen but its their chance.
