    Billy's paranoia

I have just watched through the Sky footage of today's match (which I may well keep for a while yet) and I noticed something about Billy's behaviour, something I've noticed in the past but not paid much attention to it.

Whenever the camera showed him in discussions with his back room team, he had his hand over his mouth whilst talking in such a way as you would normally do if you wanted to avoid someone being able to lip read what you were saying. That's not really normal is it? Seeing as, if this were the case, then it would be fir the benefit of the cameras and TV audience, rather than the opposition.

He could, of course, have simply been trying to prevent anyone from Derby overhearing. That's possible and on the face of it would probably seem logical. But the way he was doing it on several occasions simply didn't look like that.

I did hear a couple of stories about Billy's level of paranoia when he was at Derby, it's been widely talked about I think although we don't know how acc

Yes I noticed it but don't think it's anything unusual. I watch a lot of American sport and, particularly in the NFL, the coaches all seem to hide their mouths when discussing tactics: be it with hands, clipboards, hats etc.

TV is so intrusive and I'm sure both our and their analysts would be up for reading the lips, signals etc to gain a tactical edge.

yh its pretty much standard practice now, if one of our backroom staff is watching the footage it could give away tactics through lip reading.

I am glad he covered his mouth today as any instructions he gave his team or coaches would probably made us die laughing.

Fair enough. I'm probably guilty of reading too much into it then.

I haven't personally seen it happen before, at least not so noticeably which is why it struck me as so odd.

I noticed it as well but I think you draw the conclusion based on what you know about his personality. Says how deep running that reputation is now though

Fair play to you guys today. Turned it off at 3-0

No it's definitely paranoia and part of the Billy show.

Your 5-0 down mate and your hoping you don't give away your oh so important tactics.

Don't make me laugh. He doesn't know what tactics are. He was probably bragging about the size of his pay-off.
