I'm sure they would..
It just goes to show that after all it wasn't the board that were holding us back, and the bold decision to change the manager to kick us on was what was really required.

they've gone a bit quiet recently but there are quite a few on here who spent the last few years scream for a "quick fix" and a "rich owner" to be brought on board.
Well throwing money at it always fixes it ...right!!!!
So then clearly the club havent thrown silly money at it and still building the squad bit by bit has delivered a modicum of success.
Then you look at the complete debarcle just down the road that seems to be about to implode their whole club!
As many know I have always maintained throwing money at it is not the way forward and just a knee jerk, short term, panic solution.
So those screaming for this ... and looking at the evidence now ... would you change your mind on this now?

A modicum of success??
What do YOU define as our success?
I've always been an advocate of slow, sensible investment/progress. Wouldn't change a thing at the moment, though I'm not an accounting genius and don't know if behind the scen
I personally feel the only success has been stabilising the club and the steady improvement year on year for the last five years.
How would you define it?
I think the argument from that side was that by and large there is a correlation between investment and success. it doesn't mean if you don't spent a fortune you can't do well (burnley and derby) and it is also possible to spend a lot and not fair as well.
I don't think that argument has changed and I still believe it's right. we were lucky that SR was bold and brave enough to make a huge decision to change the management and that's worked. I'm happy to be wrong about that as I didn't like it at the time.
I firmly believe we would not be in the top 6 if clough were still in charge. I don't want to descend this into another clough thread, especially with you rat as there's enough of those about but it do think it's relevant to your OP.
as for forest, we can enjoy our moment but lets not forget, they're 7th and still in with a good shout of making the play offs so the money they've invested has hardly been a disaster.
Similarly. I would also add to that, that we are now seen in general as a good club for academy players to come to, and are starting to be associated with good, attacking football.Originally Posted by Rattea

In my opinion it very much depends on what you spend that money on. Leicester have shown this season it can work, but have also shown in the past that it can fail miserably. The team they have now is made up of mostly proven top championship players and young talent. Players like Nugent, Philips, Drinkwater, King, Schmeichel, Morgan etc etc are all players who have performed at this level before. In the past they have gone the other route signing failed prem players who have a chip on their shoulder yet command massive wages, which always seems to fail. Forest seem to have done a bit of both methods. We on the other hand have signed Dawkins and loaned Bamford, Thorne, Whitbread and Wisdom. Ok so we won't get to keep them, but at least if we fail to go up we dont have them on the books with huge wages, and they are on par with anything the likes of Leicester and Forest have. Personally I like the way we are going now. Before McClaren came in I thought the board were a bit tight, but the

Well Leicester seem to be on course for winnning the championship so I'd say that money is a big factor but clearly anyone with half brain will recognise that its only pat of the equation.
derby have shown how installing a quality co
So you are saying everyone on here that say the board have done it the right way (and thats nearly all posts) havent even got half a brain then???
Fester have been throwing money at it for four years now. Longer than we have stabilised the club and started building again.
And how do you explain the likes of florest and Brighton and Watford and Blackburn ... etc etc etc which have spent large amonths of money????
maybe if you could aspire to that half a brain you may be able to one day come up with an argument that isnt flimsier than a wet paper tissue![]()
