I wasn't allowed to go over the bridge to get to the game.
I thought the bridge was a public right of way.
I have not heard or seen any announcements.
It's pretty petty and the bridge should always be open to all.

Since we moved onto Pride Park and the footbridge at the station was extended - supporters have been allowed to cross from the Midland Road side through the station, over the footbridge and onto Pride Park, on match days.
On Saturday I was allow to cross over to Pride Park before the match, but afterwards found the gates closed and staff only allowing train ticket holders over the bridge.
There were a lot of other supporters there all trying to cross the bridge.
Staff were saying an announcement had been in the Telegraph /on Radio Derby - but I hadn't heard or seen anything. On my way back I did see a poster, which said that the bridge would no longer be open for football supporters, from today.
When the footbridge was built, I believe the Council provided some of the funding and it was agreed that pedestrians would be allowed to use it.
Was anybody else caught out by this change in policy?
Did it turn ugly on the bridge?
Has anybody seen or heard any of the announcements?

There's a section about the bridge in the Derby Railway Station Wiki' entry.
According to that the situation is a bit more complicated as there is no absolute public right of way across the bridge.
Perhaps there is a concern about missile throwing football fans and the safety of the travelling public.
Or it may be to counter fare dodging. If you have to show a ticket to get on to the bridge then you can't drop down on to a platform and get on a train without paying.
This maybe the norm in snottingham but here in derby we buy things called tickets and have ticket inspectors
Funny thing is the footbridge across Nottingham Midland Station is a public right of way. The City Council insisted.
I always thought it is public right of way.
I've worked at The Roundhouse college site in the recent past, and staff and students need to buy a 'season ticket' to get access across the brigde. True, the ticket cost is a deposit, but the flimsy bit of card never lasts all year, so it's rare to get money back.
Had many arguments with the station staff over access.
They take the **** IMO
Okay stupid question from someone who always uses the bridge but is not from Derby...
How the hell do I get across now???
