It's clear no self respecting manager wants the job, so it's a case of trying to get the one guy that would have run through a brick wall for the club as a player.

And that's why short term it could be a masterstroke.

At this stage in the season a certain amount of adrenaline will push a team over the line into that final spot.

Looks like whichever team can get four wins out of remaining seven games will clinch it?

    And once in the play-offs...
I'd be chuffed if pearce got the job. he's one of those managers that's never achieved anything and still in football based on his reputation as a player.

after years of watching inept performances of the U21's he'd definitely be our next agent (the proof is in the pic above!).

You have to ask, what's made him change his mind on his "personal reasons"?

Did Fawaz turn up at his door with a wheelbarrow full of cash and a puppy dog look on his face?
I suspect Ambassador McGovern has been at work with certain assurances from Mr Fawaz about who picks the team, whose ball it is, what colour the money is and so on.
Your right Ella. I forgot McGovern had been bought in to help make less stupid more footballing decisions.

If they appoint Pearce it may lead to an initial surge as the passion and take hold. But the guy was hopeless at City after his honeymoon period. And didn't look up to much tactically for U21's either.

He's been out the game for a while now too

I really hope this materialises. He's a poor tactical manager, from what I saw at City and England u21s.

That would be strange. If that were to be the arrangement and Brazil gets them promoted through the play offs, that's a little harsh on him. But why wouldn't Pearce come in now, with Forest being only 2 points outside the top 6 and some players due back from injury any time?

It's all set up for him surely - if he gets into the play offs then he's done as well as Billy was expected to do, if he wins the play offs he's a hero, if he fails to get into the play offs then it's all Billy's fault and the loan window is shut and Pearce couldn't strengthen. Can't see why he'd wait, either the job is right or it isn't.

Although apprehensive about Psycho, in the long term it could be the best move. When Fawaz took over he was very Academy minded and a great believer in bringing players through. I just hope that this has not been knocked out of him by Billy's PlayersRUs cheque book mentality. Psycho's stint as England under 21 manager would be invaluable and help to get our Academy thriving again plus he must have learnt a thing or two as number two to Capello. If he thinks he lacks tactically awareness then he can select people around him who are, just like Liverpool's boot room of old. A team and tacticians and motivators.

An interesting post. Whilst the appointment of Pearce doesn't fill me full of dread, I can see that a youngish English manager with a passion for the club and a willingness to develop talent might not be a bad move.
There won't be the same rivalry between Pearce and Mac as there was between Clough and the PD but maybe not a bad thing.

A team of tacticians and motivators? That's the managers job isn't it?

If Pearce's appointment has 'developing the academy' as it's pivotal advantage then surely you would be simply appointing an Academy Manager to be first team coach, but having the motivating and tactics done by 'others'.

That doesn't make a whole load of s
