Let's not give up hope yet

Though unfortunate and somewhat of a downer Vokes' untimely injury has presented us with an opportunity. Vokes, the target man, the figurehead for their system out. Ings, Trippier and Marney are also out. They also have to play three of the top eight as well as Barnsley at Oakwell.

I don't feel ready to give up hope of the automatics just yet. Call it youthful optimism or plain stupidity, I don't really care.

It ain't over until the fat lady sings.

Can't see it. I reckon 7 points will do it for them. They'll start dropping points but they gap should be enough.

What annoys me is the fact we didn't get in a position that we could take advantage of something like this happening. If we were 5 or 6 points behind, with the easier run in we'd be massive contendors. It just makes you regret us dropping the points we have e.g Ipswich, Brum, Hudds, Millwall and Bolton. Not to mention the Burnley game where we deserved something. Very dissapointing

I admire your optimism but I really can't see it happening. I looked through our fixtures and estimated 15-17 points from the last 7 games, although perhaps a bit bias as I don't have us down to lose.

That would put us 4-6 points clear of Burnley's current total. No matter how biased I can be looking at Burnley's fixtures, I can't see them picking up less than a minimum of 5 points to get promoted, I can see them picking up more than the 7 points needed to beat our total. They may face Ipswich, Wigan and Reading as their final 3 games but they could easily be promoted by then. They have Barnsley & Blackpool away, which I can see them getting 4 points minimum. Also Middlesbrough at home which should be 3 points despite their injuries. 7 points from those three games will see them promoted regardless of how they do in their last three games and also Watford who are up next.

If we hadn't slipped up frustratingly in the last minute against Blackburn, Birmingham and Ipswich we'd have 5 ex

No. Let's give up hope... and focus on maintaining what we have and then using a few games to try out new formations and give people like Whitbread and Naylor a few games to get them match fit should they be needed

I don't think it really matters too much.
Play like we can catch them and come the end hopefully we will be in a decent vein of form for the playoffs.
Can't see burnley dropping enough points and as much as I hate to admit it, I think they fully deserve 2nd place. Think we will get 5 wins and 2 draws (optimistic view) but think Burnley will get 3 wins 2 draws 2 losses. Hoping to end the season with 2 or 3 wins in a row to keep the momentum going.
Like Burnleys set up and with the money they have spent they remind me a bit of Derby.

Two teams done the double over us this season and they will finish first and highly likely second - and fair play to them.

If we are fortunate enough to get to the PL I think we would actually fair better than both of them - IMO!

If we win and Burnley lost tomorrow - it starts to look a bit different. Anything else and we can forget it.
