Looks like Swalefail was wrong all along and Triz was right about wages etc. Gotta say a big well done to Nigel for all he did. Put us in a great position for Mcclaren to take over the reins and take to the next level.

With accounts for all Football League clubs just in, it's a good time to look at how Derby stack up against the opposition.
Last season we came in joint 6th lowest for wages - Ai12.1m the same as mighty Millwall. Based on this metric, Derby, Watford and Charlton all massively overperformed last season.
But, we're a well run club, spending 79% of turnover on wages - one of the lowest in the league. Astonishingly half of the Championship spend over 100% of turnover on wages!
We are about mid-point in terms of profit (or losses!). By the look of this, lots of clubs will have major problems with FFP.
We are about midpoint in terms of revenues. But see how parachute payments skew income.
Somehow we made a profit or around Ai800k on player sales l

By the way Hantsram, great post. Cheers for that![]()
great post.
the revenue breakdown I find particularly interesting. for those suffering from big club syndrome thinking we have a god given right to be at the top of the league, that one shows we are very much mid table off the pitch commercially.
FFP will be very interesting...if they stick to it :-/
Thanks both. And yes Dawes tweeting earlier about anticipated increase in allowable losses to enable clubs to compete with parachute payments. If that is the case they surely can't apply the new rules retrospectively to this season. Can they?

Ispwich's debt is down to the money pumped into the club by Marcus Evans, does not take many seasons of pumping A£8 plus million to cover losses plus funding Keane's spending spree to rack up a debt.
As fro well done Nigel, maybe you ought to compare other managers at other clubs with similar resources???? And say well done McClaren for significantly improving on that?
Correction, just checked Brightons loss went from A£8 million in 2011-12, to A£14.7 million in 2012-13.

Well if you go 2 above us and 2 below us thats watford, huddesfield, millwall and charlton. Only watford can be said to have done significantly better, but they were a team of loans and god knows how much of a percentage they were paying for those wages.
Credit to Mac for taking us where we are now, i'd be interested to see where we are in that table now though.
And yes bear...bottom 6 wage bill was what i repeatedly said and swale repeatedly denied.Little wonder he is questioning the validity of the stats.

Fantastic initial post!
As Bear has said backs up what some posters like Triz have been saying for a long time!
One thing stands out to me amongst all the questions it raises. People talk about us being a big club and why do we not get snapped up ...
Well look at it from an investors point of view. We are middle of the road financially even tho we get big crowds. Now look ath Dirty Weeds! Their income low'ish debts and the potential there.
I hate to say it but on the basic evidence this really shows how we will always be very limited by funds (as Clough was) unless the business is grown! As an investor alone I would be lookingat Weeds as a good opportunity!
