Wide strikers, who should they be...

I think 99% of Rams fans would go with the following GK, defence, midfield:

    Grant
    Wisdom
    Keogh
    Buxton
    Forsyth
    Thorne
    Bryson
Hughes (possibly Hendrick in more than 5%)

    That leave the front 3.

There is no-one within a country mile of Martin. Surely the first on the teamsheet.

That leaves the two wide men where although its good to have options, do we really know who the best pair are.

I'd go Ward and Russell everytime.

Jamie showed at Donnie just how valuable he is as a winger / striker. He can beat a player either down the line or coming inside, can find a player, has pace and can score (he's overdue).

Not too much between Russell and Dawks but I just think Russell gets back and covers better and of late, we know he can score too. Ask Darlow!!

Bamford is just a liability in a close game. If we need to go to a front 4, then ok but I'm sure the fullback behind him dreads what he's going to do.

    Thoughts...

Agree with most of your appraisal mate. I'm a big fan of Dawkins though and think in tight games or games where we are under pressure he can be *****.
His close control and ability to weave between tackles whilst keeping possession can make a big difference in tight games.
He has good vision and links well with Martin and Hughes and will probably do the same with Thorne.
As said each offers something different - but for me I'd nurse Dawkins and Ward in the next few games and keep giving the wide players a half each.

Bamford is important for us - but he is a luxury player. His goals have been ***** and at times his assists but he is not defensively minded. That said his moments of brilliance help make watching Derby interesting. Imagine him scoring a goal like his winner at Wednesday but at Wembley! Having said that I wouldn't pick him currently for the wide role ahead of the other three

The only thing that worries me with Ward is inconsistency. When he is on it he is great but the contrast is huge when he is not...
At the moment I would go Russell and Ward.
    I really like Dawkins though.

I know rattea is rumoured to have different alias' but surely he doesn't make up as much as 5% of the board?

guys, I can't believe you're putting ward in the side. don't get me wrong, he did well against Donny with a great assist but he's normally sooooo wasteful.

I think johnnys possibly the best footballer of the 4. dawkins the most direct. ward the most lively and bamford the most likely to get a goal!

having the 4 in this league is a real luxury. as useless as bamford can be on occasions, he's a natural born goal scorer which makes him very difficult to drop. so for me I'd favour JR and bamford but depends on the opposition. dawkins direct on and off the ball running drags defenders all over the place and can be a very good option. we've generally looked

Id pick JR and Dawkins. Dawkins is very good at keeping the ball, has fast feet and can skin a man. Russel is direct pacey and strong and can whack them, and although good he still hasn't hit the heights the arabs promised so that is yet to come, and i think it will come. Ward off the bench is ace and bamford can be great but is more often a bit crap.

Ward on the right, and Dawkins on the left. I think Ward is much more effective on the right and Wisdom seems to play better when he is there.

Dawkins really brightens up our game and we look much more dangerous with him in.

I trust the management team to get the right balance over the next few games. Nice dilema to have hey?

I think they have all proven their worth at one point or another over the course of the season and all give us something a little different. Personally I'd start Dawkins and Russell with Ward off the bench.

Nice headache to have though isn't it...
