I want Rovers to be as rich as man City Alf, but it is what it is. Its almost like we should be apologising for Walker coming in? Clubs are all on different levels for various reasons. Football is not fair, neither is life.

With respect 36K per week for Rhodes and others reportedly on similar . Are you happy with that and do you really think it's sustainable ?

Football needs to get back to some sort of reality but it seems modern day football isn't in the real world .
I'm very happy with it, except for a few who buck the trend (Burnley this season for example), success in football is very closely related to how much money you spend. The size of Rovers wage bill is a good thing in my opinion, it gives Bowyer a better chance of getting us promoted.

Burnley are about to benefit big-time from the inequality and commercialism in modern football. There was certainly no A?60-90m windfall to be gained from getting promoted from the old division 2 to division 1. I expect there'll be

Can't disagree with this. The sooner the bubble pops, the better. Players on +A?200k p/w, transfers over A?70m and fans having to pay extortionate amounts for tickets and merchandise. Football will soon be beyond the common man and the sport for the elite.

Agree totally, Bigmoon. The trouble is, it looks irreversible. Perhaps FFP at least suggests some attempt to tackle the problem, but it runs too deep, and the elite clubs are so wealthy, I'm not sure they can be reined in.
The main knock-on effect is that the top six or seven in the PL, now, will remain in those positions for the foreseeable future.
This is why I have advocated a European super-league. We would be able to watch those elite games on tv, and - meanwhile - domestic football would become more even and compe

By and large money IS at the root of most evil (on a par with religion!).

Pandoras Box is well and truly open.

All of those that are happy to shell out thousands of their hard earned relatively meagre incomes so that many sporting individuals can earn many thousands a week (and in some cases a day!), really need to re-evaluate lifes priorities
'Its Market Forces' Yeh right, and who feeds the frenzy ? Yep that's right the ones who idolise and readily pay up the thousands of their hard earned crust to worship (plus gobbling up Sky).

Hopefully without dissing anyone...in the belief they are staying true to their allegiance to their team/club x, y, z.

Our German friends seem to have it right though. Or as right as it can be in this money mad circus.

    Rant over...sorry. :/

    Oh and sorry for JW

re: How Long Does Rhodes Have Left On His Contract?

My rant was towards the broad sweep of footie support and in particular the top two leagues i.e. not towards directly our support.
Given that my valuation of a footie ticket is no more than ?20, we ourselves fall into what I would consider a reasonable cost to attend a footie match.
However, the same cannot be said for our nearest and dearest neighbours, hence the glaring lack of full house attendances. I personally don't blame them.
Given clubs 'takings' in the Prem., how can they justify the ticket prices they charge? Oh yea that's why, the vast majority of these takings go to their myriad of 'superstars'. :/
    Hence FFP.

AS for a BRFC/footie obsession? no far from it. Many, many years ago when I was younger and footie was less commercial, I suppose I could have been described as very keen. But never obsessed.

I have other pursuits & interests that I am equally keen on so I spread my time between them. Variety is the spice of life

As usual just my own personal take on the mode
