And the team itself didnt have the killer instinct after they went to 10 men...they thought like we all did this will be a stroll...and we & they paid the price

In all the years of watching Derby I've seen many games in which the opposition seem to play better having had a player sent off, so I don't think it was a given that we would find it easier when the QPR player was sent off. One of their players ( can't remember who was being interviewed on the radio today ) said it might have been a good thing for them when O'Neill was sent off

Dawkins is a Derby player whether you like

I think the starting line up, after the demolition of Brighton, was not a mistake. How could you change that side. He didn't so ok with me.
11 vs 11 I thought we did ok and couldn't see the need to change at half time.
Following the sending off, I thought we should have stuck with the same 11 for 15 minutes or so - we were on top anyway so we could have seen how that went. We changed too early before seeing how they were going to set up.

We mostly say that Hughes, Bryson and Hendrick cannot play together but as the game developed, I think having the three on together would have been the right thing to do against 10 men, especially as QPR only had one sub left to make.
I think we should have took off either Ward or Russell (probably Ward) and brought on Bryson.
We'd seen that QPR were vulnerable against pace and runners through the middle yet we just changed personel, not the angle of attack.
We kept trying to get wide all the time instead of head on runs / one-twos that that Martin /

QPR was on the ropes and it would only be a matter of time before they caved.

I think I can sum this up as a boxing match. Boxer A (Derby) was leading on points, round after round. Eventually Boxer B will fall. All they had to do, is just keep the jabs and scoring going, eventually it would come.

Instead A tried to go for the knockout (in 90 mins) and instead of A getting it, the only way out for B was to get the 1 opening, it came, they took it and down went A for the count.

Naive. And the blame has to go SmC. He should have realised that Derby could be walking into a trap, instead of shoring things up on 80s mins, he allowed you to go in search of the win.
Instead of playing the ball on ground, you chose to cross, making it easy for Dunne and co to deal with. Every time you passed, they looked vulnerable. Mistakes were creeping in and becoming regular. All you needed was a bit of patience, and re-group on 90 mins for ET, and then go for the jugular.

A painful lesson on that old

Except that Bryson wasnt fully fit, so the manager has to make a choice and went with the fully fit player starting, no use putting a half fit player on and having to sub him early.

Yes Russel was being effective, but Dawkins added soemthing different and forced a save from Green soon after coming on, if he'd managed to keep that shot low who knows. Dawkins is very good at getting in the box and turning which he did on 3 or 4 occasions and created either chances (Brysons shot saved by Green at the nearpos
