So Rat I see that now you've been to a game and spent some time with derby county fans again you're actually posting a proper post rather than just a wum. good to have you back.

could you be overlooking the contract situation though? don't we have a few key players coming into the final year of their contracts? (maybe hughes and Bryson??) they're not under the radar anymore. everyone has seen how good they are. surely we'll struggle to give them acceptable contracts and remain in line with FFP. could this mean the team breaking up anyway?

Well there is only the 3 teams that have gone up who would really want any of our players and I cant really see QPR wanting any of them as they only go for A£100.000 a wk so called stars. Leicester wont want any. But heard a little rumour Burnley may want martin. Apart from that who in the championship would they leave us for?

Kind of agree with Rats OP.

Going up too early last time did us no favours. Having said that, this team is better and has more potential and the running of the club is far more stable than it was last time. Plus we have a good manager.

I don't think promotion would have resulted in the team being broken upon relegation necessarily. I think it would have given us a stronger financial platform for the next few years, some players would move on but we would have sufficient resources to replace them.

But, not going up isn't then end of the world either, although it's horrible to miss out the way we did. I still felt numb this morning. But it did highlight that although this is a good team that fully deserved to finish 3rd and earn its place at Wembley, it just lacks that bit of experience and killer touch to make it count when it matters.

I would not disagree, we have banked some nice extra revenue from the playoffs, another season at championship level will give the young ones chnace to develop whereas they may have struggled in the prem.

Hopefully we can do what West Brom did, which was build on the success, get promoted next season and become an established prem team (although their penchant for swapping managers was nearly their downfall this season).

There will be some turnover in the squad, though theres a good chance that Wisdom will be back here on loan next season and there are indications that Thorne may join on a permanent deal (we will have to wait and see on that one).


All in all there are many positives.

I guess the answers will be in the ownership group.. Potentially we lose Some real quality but IF we lose the likes of Thorne, then they must see that having a make do, won't do..
