we had them here CA that would just tell you put down what you earned with no proof needed (halifax) the guy that bought a house off me in 2007 got a morgage for 190k on a "self certification" morgage ... the house was repossessed last year :/
Blackpool and Watford have managed okay on (relatively) modest wage to income ratios (and not particularly massive crowds) - the rest read like a impending motorway pile up...
I don't run my businesses like that...wage bills 30-35% absolute max. - usually lower...
