One central defender is let go...

Bondz NGala has left Pompey after not being offered a new deal.

But Andy Awford insists it may not be the end of the central defenders Fratton Park career.

The 24-year-old wasnt among those released when the Blues retained list was announced last month.

However, Pompeys boss has subsequently told NGala there is no room in the squad for him to remain, with the club currently well-stocked in the central-defensive area.

Jack Whatmough, Ben Chorley, Sonny Bradley and Joe Devera will all be competing for two places next season, along with the versatile Adam Webster.

NGala departs having made 31 appearances and scoring three times, after arriving as a free agent under ex-boss Guy Whittingham in August of last year. Although, Awford has not ruled out a pre-season reunion should circumstances change.

Bondz had a very up and down stay at PFC. In and out of favour with all 3 managers last season as a consequence. I personally would have got rid of Chorley. An overated liability imho.

Yep, that little tackle against York could have cost us dear. Luckily Bondz came in and did well.

Maybe Andy will have a more persuasive method to prevent Chorley getting into disciplinary hot water... e.g. hit him in the wallet... a skipper needs to set an example especially to the up and coming young lads. I would have got rid of both I think, there must be loads available.
