Thread: Zoltan Gera

    Zoltan Gera

I see Gera has been-checking Derby (and McClaren) on Sky. Says if he were to drop down to the Championship he would want to play for a promotion contending team that plays good football "like Derby County".

Do we think there is actually anything in this or is he just putting his out there trying to get clubs to bite!?!

Hypothetically, if there was any substance to this behind the scenes, what do we think? Pros and cons involved as always. He has been a good, gifted player over the course of his career, plays neat passing football and would add experience of getting promoted and playing in the Premier League. On the other hand he is 35 years old, would soak up wages we could possibly be spending on players who would/could play more often and is another midfielder of that ilk what we really need at this point?

    Thoughts...

gera's been a good player of the years. good technique but I don't think he'd fit into our side. we're all about pace in those forward positions and gera's more of a number 10 play maker. we'd need an electric striker playing up front as opposed to chris martin to benefit from gera's through balls. instead martin's great hold up play needs people running in behind him.

    so not for me.
