Thanks Braindead for raising the intellectual content of this luncheon debate by several notches above the Rat.

Surprised the mods have not moved this completely non football debate to where it belongs (possibly the dustbin) Guys if you want to debate international politics please do it in the appropriate place!

I tend to think the issues of sovereignty should be dealt with by the populations determining their own futures, unless there is a legal matter, such as Hong Kong, where there was a long term agreement for control to revert back to China.

Where there is no legal claim (and I see no evidence of one in support of Argentina in this instance) then the population have the right to determine their own future. Whether that be the Falklands, the Canary Islands, Malta or anywhere else.

Argentina will always argue that the Falklands are theirs for much the same reason as we will.

    Exactly Ray.
That's how bright the Argies are. Instead of sweet talking the natives round, as to why it would be better to live under their umbrella. Closer, anything you need we'll get it etc, they-

Invade- treat the population like crap. Steal, loot, vandalise their homes, lock them up and use them as shields.( for you Ratty, there was a plan in place to drag th

Here's a simple solution for you French. Stop opening/commenting on this thread and just concentrate on the football related ones.

Problem solved without the need to involve the mod.

how would he have known it was about politics when it had 'world cup' in the title. not really his fault for opening it.

ironic as a recent warning has been given for misleading post titles!

What takes a while is understanding the Rat likes to create controversial threads and while responding sometimes for a bit he eventually disappears while everyone's else's agro levels increase because of the initial controversy. He then appears on or creates another thread trying to stir up emotions. Unfortunately I may not like his tactics but I can't help but read what he has to say. Still trying to work out what he is trying to do with his Falklands thread. Suffice to say not much else happening so reading the comments, come the season is much easier to ignore.
