He only played for seven games at the end of the season, whereas good old John Eustace provided the backbone for the majority of the season and our place in the play offs was as good as nailed on before Thorne entered the fray.

Whilst I agree that Thorne definitely looks the part and adds some additional forward momentum to the team, I am far more concerned by the gaping hole at right back left by the departure of Wisdom.

I think a lot of Rams fans underestimate just how much solidity Wisdom gave us.

If we could only have one of our loanees back it would be Andre for me, then I think we could be on for the play-offs minimum.
Agree that Wisdom's role is under appreciated. Not necessarily the player himself (tho I was a big fan), but having a more sturdy player at RB allowed Forsyth to get forward more as Wisdom

Completely agree with you regarding Thorne. I think he's a quality player and fits in very nicely with our style of play. However, as I've said before, he's not a unique talent and I trust

We must remember though that only one auto spot is up for grabs - Forest nailed on for one of them - according to them
However with Thorne and Wisdom gone, we've got it all on to just replace those guys with "equals".
If we started next season with the squad as it stands today, then bottom playoff spot would be a major achievement.
It's all down to Steve's recruitment successes, holding onto our better players and similar luck with injuries to key players.
I think we should have a much better idea at the end of the transfer window.

What happens if we make a few signings and the club doesnt perform as it did last year. And possibly misses out even on the Play-Offs.

Would this suggest that the previous management did all the hard work and the current ruined it?

the point is some seem nailed on about automatic promotion when 7th or 8th would be viewed as a failure and the club moving backwards. Without significant additionas its more likely that we will fall back a bit.

Well the current management achived 3rd over the cureent season since taking voer in October, so one couldn't say they had ruined what the previous management did so lets knock that one on the head for a start.

As for where we might finish next season, reasonable expectations are another top 6 finish. Anything else is i think unrealistic, so much can affect a season, injuries etc that there isnt a team that will start next season that one could say are nailed on for an automatic promotion pla
