Great photo, Wokes!
Anyone up for a game of chess?
The Eurocopter AS532 Cougar is a twin-engine, medium-weight, multipurpose helicopter developed by France. The AS532 is a development and upgrade of the Aerospatiale Puma in its militarized form. (Its civilian counterpart is the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma.) The AS532 has been further developed as the Eurocopter EC725.

No mate - not me, thanks!

535th Tactical Airlift Squadron
Activated October 1, 1943, served in WWll, Pacific theatre (possibly Korean War though not specifically mentioned by my source), and Vietnam.
I agree with you, Tundra. Having looked into the relationship between the 535th and the Korean War, it is very vague, as in the following:-
The squadron was reactivated in 1949 in the Air Force Reserve at Bergstrom Air Force Base as a corollary unit to Strategic Air Command's 27th Fighter Group. With no aircraft assigned, reservists of the unit flew the North American F-82 Twin Mustangs, and later, the Republic F-84 Thunderjets of the 27th. When most of the 27th group deployed to Korea for the Korean War, the group became affiliated with the 12th Fighter-Escort Group. The group was called to active service in May 1951. After its personnel were used to man other units, the group was inactivated in June.
Whilst it says that "most of the 27th group deployed to Korea for the Korean War", it does not specify that the 535th did, although the implication is that they probably did.
I think it would take quite a lot of research to get a definitive answer, so I think it is a good time to mov
Thanks for the research, Wokes, sometimes what they DON'T tell you is more interesting than what they DO tell you in official reports!
In the final official count in the 2000 U.S. presidential election, George W. Bush defeated Al Gore by 537 votes in the state of Florida.
One for you Tundra. North shore of Lake Huron?

Is there really any point to this nonsenese thread? Great! You can find pictures that show numbers from 1 to whatever you want!!! What a load of bollox.
I started using this board for what is was meant for, and although I think it has needed some divine intervention from time to time by the comic genius of Sweeney, Greavsie, Tony and a few, very few actually, others it has now gone well passed what I starting using it for.
I was up there last August. For realism, there should be an inukchuk perched on those rocks.
It was fascinating looking at Google Maps to see exactly where it was. Educational and good fun! I will be interested to see what input Tundra comes up with. He may have even been there in the past, but then he may just have passed it by!
