Well they aren't, but never mind. McClaren has hardly seen anything of Christie. It's a gamble we're looking to cover.[/quote]

So we have signed a player we haven't scouted? You may not know anything about him but i can assure you the coaching and recruitment team do and equally he is first choice right back at the moment.

But If you know better we will just have to wait and see when the season begins won't we?

On the subject of signings, those allegedly made for the development squad are the same age experience of soem first team mem

The fact is as it stands our first choice squad does not fear anyone in this league. Previous seasons where there has been massive amounts of squad reconstruction has generally followed a poor season.

The squad as it stands is better than last season discounting loan players - Thorne is a massive upgrade on Eustace in the long term and you have to imagine the management think the same about Christie over Freeman otherwise he wouldn't have been given the number 2 in the squad.

Remember these players with the exception of Wisdom got us to 2nd in the league by Christmas and only Leicester in the whole football league gained more points than Mac did with this squad from the time of his appointment. Thorne is a great signing to permanently enhance the squad so it's not really a surprise that there isn't massive change - rather an injection of quality.

A huge amount of first team purchases can also upset squad morale and this has been identified by just about everyone as being fantastic a

I think the fact that he has been in Liverpool's starting XI in games against Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U, amongst others, does at least give an 'indication' that he can play at Premier League level.

p.s. It hasn't been the Premiership since 2007
