    rovers pre season

well just posting in the wake of the stanley game, i`m highly concerned. rhodes seems lathargic and isolated again(not to mention goalless*) and our defence/midfield sounds atrocious. pre season form should not be dismissed, as a good pre season can help form going into the season proper..

i hope we improve rapidly in the next few games, or i`ll have to question bowyers ability to get the best out of what is, on paper, a very competitive squad for the championship.

*we are paying this guy £50,000 a week ffs!

Is that post a piss take or has Saxo forgotten to take his medication?
Either way it's a massive over reaction to a friendly ffs.

We got beat at morecambe last pre season - just saying like.

Drawing 2-2 with Accy means the same as Burnley beating some part time car mechanics and shelf stackers 8-0. Absolutely nothing, it's all about getting up to speed for that first game of the season.

fair enough, but i disagree. during england`s friendlies in the run up to the world cup we showed defensive frailties, and that showed up as our problem in the tournament itself..

naive to think pre season form will mean nothing(albeit burnley`s 8-0 will in the context of the premier league).

    They mean nothing at all.
Inthe summer leading up to 94/95 we didnt win one game. We went onto destroy every team in the country when it mattered.

This means nothing at all. Even early season is pretty irrelevant.

how the hell do you remember our pre season results from 94/95 season(20 years ago!), if they mean nothing..?

true about early season form though, as we were top under steve kean weren`t we..? so were blackpool last season under ince i think..

Every game is designed to step the players match fitness up it was quite clear from yesterday's game the players couldn't run non stop for 70-75 minutes so they seemed to back off in spells and conserve energy.
Judge the players on the stoke game as by then they should be ready for the start of the season.
