All about the quality of final ball for me. We often work the ball well into good areas and waste it in the final third. That needs to improve.

SMcC says we need to become more ruthless. We've seen us dominate 2 games but only just defeat teams with late goals.
Question:
How will we become more ruthless? Is it about individual players improving their shooting or is it about the collective football being over-elaborate? ie trying to walk the ball in?
Or are we missing the creative talent of Hughes just behind the front players because he's at the back of the midfield?
Or is it about Bryson's lack of thrust early season?

Agreed SheffRam. I don't think we have anything to worry about really; both fullbacks are bombing on and getting telling balls over. Would imagine the luck will change soon and we will get on the end of some of them. I think Bryson's early season dip will end soon and we'll see him getting into key areas in the box like he did last season. Maybe Sheffield on Saturday will be the place and time.Originally Posted by SheffRam

I was at the Pirelli last night to see Burton beat one of our Championship rivals, Wigan.
Although Rosler made a lot of changes and fielded a much weakened side, replacing just about every player, Wigan looked poor and very much second best against a team from the same division as Carlisle. Despite the changes, they still had Fortune on the pitch, Waghorn, Maloney and Grant Holt both also played a part. They had enough to make a decent go of it.
In contrast, Derby completely dominated their away leg tie against a league 2 club, our main beef being that we weren't clinical enough to finish them off earlier. Wigan were second best for 3/4 of the match, despite going ahead.
I know Derby fielded a strong side and that has to be taken into consideration but there was no comparison between the two performances.
Various reasons for me...firstly they`ve gotta step up their fitness...obviously they are just out of pre season
Plus finishing...Dawson for me is a lousy finisher...im struggling big time to see what people are seeing in him...an his goal ratio at the end of the season will I think prove me right...although i`d gladly be wrong
BUT...the main one & its for 99.9% of teams is having someone who can thread that final ball...these players are worth their weight in gold & very few clubs possess one
As for Hughes...to be fair this has been thrusted on Mac due to Thorne`s injury...an the sooner Masc is match fit or up to speed on english football the better for us it will be
Dawson???
I think he means Brykins
