Richard Keys Apologises To Everton - Why?


When Richard Keys predicted who would finish in the top six in the Premier League at the end of the 2014-15 season, he perhaps did not expect a backlash from the set of supporters of one of the clubs he omitted from his preview of the upcoming campaign.

"If there's a team capable of gate-crashing my list it's the Toffee's," wrote Keys, who now works as a pundit for beIN Sports, in a blog post titled "Everton - an apology!"

Under the stewardship of Roberto Martinez, Everton have secured permanent deals for last season's loan stars in Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry, whilst also adding Muhamed Besic to the club's midfield.

"I still don't believe they made 'significant' progress last season," continued Keys.

"Progress for sure and there was a perception they were easier on the eye than when David Moyes was in charge. That was certainly the case at the beginning of the season, but they were conceding too many and not getting wins.
