    Early days but..

On that evidence we are going to struggle thi season.

No pressing, no movement, no visible game plan other than hoof it up to Pelle and watch it bounce off him. We never looked like even coming close to scoring.

On the plus side we looked solid defensively and Forster was excellent (with what little he had to do). A clean sheet and off the mark with a point, this is the sort of game we have lost in the past.

Still clearly need more reinforcements in attack though. Right now it's hard to see where the goals will come from, and if you can't score you're in trouble.

After the optimism of last week, I'm worried again.

The less said about Pelle the better. Why Long didn't replace him to spearhead the attack I've no idea.

I understood what it's like to be a West Ham fan during large periods of today's game

The Japs not a long term solution, but Gardos should resolve that issue. Clyne looked like he had his attacking wings clipped today which helped with the clean sheet, but god it made us dull at times.

I'm going for positive spin, in that Koeman wanted points on the board - at any cost.

    Onwards and upwards

All good teams are built from the back.

Our defence looked very good today. Forster, Yoshida and Fonte were outstanding. I think we can get a 0-0 draw up there.

(I said even less than you did about him, I'm not saying much about the one you wanted to replace him either )

I managed to get a ticket to the game yesterday as I am over in the UK - it was good to see the new team out there. It looked like a team who had sold £95m worth of their players and had a hastily assembled new team in place who have not yet had enough time to gel. Hopefully this will happen shortly, and when some of the players not yet fit to start come back.

Yoshida had a very good game I thought, and Morgan seemed to be working fairly hard. Pelle was shocking, and Long didn't really make much of an impact, and I wondered why he was brought in for Davis. Forester was very confident, and not really troubled by West Brom. Ward-Prowse had a very good free kick. Tadic looked promising, but possibly not yet fully match fit?

At least I can follow the rest of the games from afar and have an idea of who is who now, but not a very inspiring game, and certainly it seemed a let down after the praise given to Southampton after the Liverpool game.

Agree with the assessment. Not pretty to watch and West Brom were well organised, motivated and better than us so a point gained.

We earned nothing and deserved less.

It's early days and I'm not worried, things could be worse with room for improvement.

It was not the most inspiring performance against a well organised defensive side, we have seen similar performances over the last few seasons, which have usually ended in defeat. Still a work in progress and there will be more to come.
We truly have been spoilt during the Liebherr era, and the aggression of the Cortese era has gone, the new regime like the team need time to gel. This is our club and will have our support regardless of future events.
