Everton in talks with Samuel Eto’o after Liverpool move breaks down.

Eto’o, 33, is a free agent after his one-year deal with Chelsea was not renewed and the Blues have had competition from Liverpool, but the Reds have pulled out of negotiations due to his extortionate wage demands. The Cameroon striker was demanding £100,000-a-week wages and a two-year deal at Liverpool, which prompted them to walk away.

However, Everton are now facing strong competition from the middle east with an offer of a £7 million annual salary on the table for Eto’o apparently.

The Toffees are desperate to improve their attacking options with Romelu Lukaku their only top class forward but signing Eto’o would make him the Blues’ highest-paid player.

Eto’o would prefer to stay in the Premier League but if Everton cannot matc
